An 1819 large cent from the U.S. Mint. I sent it to PCGS and they graded it MS 63 Brown. It was hard to photograph well because of the plastic holder. There were many die varieties in this year. This one is a Newcomb 8.

The dealer said it was part of the Randall hoard, although he offered no proof. Allegedly discovered under a railroad platform in Georgia in 1868, the Randall hoard was probably a small keg of large cents that was buried many years earlier. The hoard seems to have included coins dated 1816-1820.
