I pray that God is blessing each of you. There have been so many changes for me lately that this may be a little longer than usual. Here is a quick summary of this newsletter... 1. Gilberto is back in Texas and 2 of his songs have been added to the web site. 2. I have added many new RealAudio recordings. 3. I found a job! 4. I have added a Romanian translation of "All Of My Heart". 5. Netscape 4.06 works much better with our web site than 4.04 did. 6. We need your help with advertising. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gilberto is back in Texas after being in Massachusetts for several months and he has a lot of new songs (he says 100). We have added two of them so far... - "Free and Slave", based on Romans 5-6, is a country song about freedom from sin. - "Hear, O Israel", based on Mark 12:29-30, is about the greatest commandment. We have not added the midi yet, but you can hear me singing and Gilberto playing the guitar in the Realaudio file. I have been very busy creating new audio recordings of selected song. There are 22 RealAudio files available at last count, but I still have several to add. These are simple recordings made in my home with guitar and vocals, but hopefully they will give you a better idea of how each song can be sung. It took me almost 3 months, but I finally found a job. I will be working at EDS in their "Internet commerce" group. This is drastically different from my previous job, but I think it will be a lot of fun. Can you say "Java"? Peter Mengher of Romania recently sent me a translation of "All Of My Heart" in Romanian which I have posted to the "Translations" page. This song is now available in 6 languages. Praise the Lord! Several people have complained about problems they experience with my site while using Netscape 4.04. It crashes because of the Realaudio within frames, and the midi did not play correctly. I recently download Netscape 4.06 and was happy to find that the problems have been resolved. It seems to be very solid. Finally, Gilberto came up with a suggestion. This music ministry relies completely on voluntary help in translations, web space, and advertising. It is not a business. We are currently receiving about two hundred visitors per day, but there are several million Christians logging onto the web each day. If you or someone you know can help get the word to people about us, this would really help. Maybe you have connections with a radio or television station, or a newspaper or magazine. Maybe you are part of a Christian mailing list. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated. That's all I have for today. If you are interested, there are now 555 people on the mailing list from 47 different countries. Yours in Christ, Elton Smith cots@airmail.net Songs of Praise by Gilberto Barreto and Friends http://web2.airmail.net/cots/gilberto.htm Christian Songwriters Web Ring http://web2.airmail.net/cots/webring.htm
