Our Vacation on the East Coast April/May 2002 New York CityIn New York City we stayed with my college buddy, Kip. Kip designs and sells children's T-shirts.
Please visit his web site at:
All of us in Kip's apartment.
A flag at the entrance to the World Trade Center viewing area. It was signed by thousands of people.
The viewing platform at the World Trade Center.
We had to pick up free tickets several blocks away in advance and walk through
lower Manhattan to the viewing area. We waited about 10 minutes until the previous group finished.
The crater where the World Trade Center towers stood.
This is about one month before the official completion of the excavation.
The darker areas on the two buildings across the way are not reflections. They are broken glass.

The list of names of people who died when the two WTC towers fell.
People have taped photographs of many of the victims to the board.
Last year, Kip took these pictures from the roof of his apartment as the WTC buildings
were burning and collapsing. I featured them on another page, but they seem appropriate, so
here they are again. Kip lives about 1.5 miles north of the WTC area.

Next, we went to the Museum of Natural History in New York City.
They were featuring a butterfly (and moth) exhibit. This was taken in the live butterfly room.
The butterflies were congregating around large lights in the room like this one.
A huge Atlas moth we saw in the butterfly exhibit.
We walked through Central Park on our way to the Sony Technology center.
This picture was taken under a very old bridge.
