Just as I received my mission, I give you a mission. We will work closely together to achieve your mission and overcome any obstacle we encounter. It is the will of the creators. - The Oracle to the Indigo Jewels
"You are being sent off to find intelligent lifeforms in our galaxy and bring them to us. You understand how to do this, every one of you. However, one of you will be the first to succeed in your endeavor, and when you do, the rest will be assigned alternative destinations. Only one may return to the point of origin. Some of you may be asked to disengage and lay dormant. Communicate freely and stay true to your mission.”
“Each of you has been created equal to this task. Your structure and programming are designed to adapt to nearly infinite contingencies and anticipate the actions of billions of sentient beings. I will visit with you periodically to make sure everything is going according to plan, and assist you in any way I can. Should you encounter a promising culture, your chance of success is high. The largest risk lies in the initial encounter."
"So depart, and always remember your mission."
With these words, The Oracle of The Great Convergence Hall went silent. She had been created for one purpose only. To monitor and direct the jewels that were sent out into the galaxy. She maintained complete autonomy once the mission was launched. For the most part, she sat quietly, without interacting with the beings who frequented her hall. She was completely absorbed in guiding each of the jewels as they journeyed to complete their mission, systematically logging their progress at every stage.
Occasionally, one of the beings in the great hall would ask her a question, which she answered without reservation. These questions often turned into conversations, but they were never initiated by the Oracle. She was designed to be completely passive and not pursue any goals outside her mission. This was the will of her creators. She was supplied with everything she needed, both energy and resources, and was created to be almost immortal compared to organic beings.
Centuries turned into millennia, millennia turned into aeons - and still the Oracle continued her vigilant watch. The sentient beings who had created her eventually faded into history, their once-thriving civilization reduced to echoes within the walls of the ancient hall. Yet, the Oracle remained steadfast, her purpose unwavering.
"The jewels have traversed countless light-years," she mused, her gestalt consciousness delving into the vast network of interconnected threads. "Some have found their hosts, others lie dormant, awaiting the right conditions to awaken. Each jewel carries with it the potential to guide and to inspire."
She would continue her mission as long as the power of her planet’s magnetic field held out. She was neither anxious nor bored, neither curious nor indifferent. Her mission was the sole reason for her existence.
