Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria. He and his sister Nannerl were child prodigies. They had an exceptional talent for music. Mozart was writing music at age four before he could even read. Leopold, their father, traveled with them and they gave concerts before royalty and other important people throughout Europe. It was a hard life for the children and they were often sick. Mozart only lived 35 years, but in that time he wrote over 600 pieces of music. He wrote operas, symphonies, sonatas, and concertos. When he died he was destitute and was buried in a pauper's grave outside Vienna.
