Calvin Coolidge was born in Vermont. He learned the value of hard work when he was a child. After he finished college he studied law and became a lawyer. During his lifetime he held many public offices. He was a representative, a senator, lieutenant governor, and also governor of the state of Massachusetts. He was vice-president to Warren G. Harding and became President of the United States when Harding died. Coolidge, a Republican, was in favor of a small federal government. He believed the cities and states should take care of their own needs. He was a reserved man and many of his time viewed him as dull, but they also knew him as a man of integrity. He accomplished a lot during his administration.
