As I Rise To Walk With Him

Written by Elton Smith and Larry Holder

I wrote the music and the lyrics for the chorus. Larry added the verses. People have many different beliefs about baptism. No matter what you believe, this song is intended as a celebration of our rise from baptism to walk a new life with Jesus Christ. Please visit Larry's web site for more great music. - Elton, December 21, 1998.

Added mp3 recording from the midi file - November 2024

Lyrics

(Introduction)

(Verse 1)
Except a seed be returned to the earth,
There to die to itself,
And yet to find its rebirth,
So I now testify
I am born from above,
Trusting in the Savior's love!

(Chorus)
As I die (as I die) to my sin (to my sin)
I am raised unto life everlasting with Him.
Praise the Lord for His love
Shining down from above
As I rise to walk with Him.

(Verse 2)
No more a slave to the sin that I knew,
For the Lord's cleansing power
Now has made all things new.
Washed away is the old
By the blood of the Lamb;
By His grace alone I stand!

(Repeat Chorus)

(Banjo and fiddle solo)

(Repeat Chorus 2 more times)

Goldie2009-06-06This song has many meanings for me, that when we are baptized we are putting away the old self taking on a new person in Christ and a reminder that there's life eternal.that's just 2
Mike2009-03-06Great song. I can't hear the music for some reason but the words alone blessed me. Thank you.
2007-07-26Thank you for the example of this song. As the minister of music for my church I am always in search of more songs with a strong word base, particularly songs that are used for special occasions. This song not only fits Baptism, but praise and worship overall. It's very easy listening and easy to play. I love it!
