Blessed Is The Man
(Based on Psalm 1)
Written by Elton Smith
This is the second song I have written without any help from Gilberto. I really appreciate all the songwriting techniques he has taught me along the way, and I hope you enjoy this song. It is dedicated to Gussie Deyo, a wonderful Christian sister who read this passage to us in church. It finally sank in. Thanks Gussie! - Elton, June 1997
(Introduction)
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law,
is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates
day and night.
He's like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither away.
For the Lord watches over the righteous.
Whatever he does will prosper.
And blessed is the man
who delights in the law of the Lord.
And blessed is the man
who delights in the law of the Lord.
(Orchestral solo)
And blessed is the man
who delights in the law of the Lord.
And blessed is the man
who delights in the law of the Lord.
