I Will Follow All The Way

This is our 5th song as a trio. It's not as easy as a duo, but the results are worth the effort. I wrote the melody for the verse and chorus and some of the lyrics, Larry added the lyrics for the 2nd verse, and Steve added the bridge. We pray that everyone will find the Lord during their brief stay here on earth. Eventually, we all reach a wall we cannot climb. - Elton, January 2, 1999

Lyrics

(Introduction)

(Verse 1)
When I was young I turned to Jesus
As my guide in life.
And He's been with me all the way.
The road we follow,
sometimes joy and sometimes sorrow,
Ever homeward as we walk from day to day.

(Chorus 1)
And though the road ahead should turn beyond my view,
And though my eyes grow dim with age,
I'll strain to listen for my Savior.
I will follow where He leads me,
I will follow all the way.

(Verse 2)
I heard the voice of Jesus
Calling me to follow Him,
Though it be far beyond my home.
Although at times I've grown so weary,
I press onward;
There's no greater joy or peace I've ever known!

(Repeat Chorus 1)
And though the road ahead should turn beyond my view,
And though my eyes grow dim with age,
I'll strain to listen for my Savior.
I will follow where He leads me,
I will follow all the way.

(Bridge - Strings)
Forgetting what lays behind and
Looking to what's ahead --
I'm pressing on to win the prize
Of my heavenly calling
in my Savior, Jesus Christ.
It's more than I can realize.

(Verse 3)
And when the road shall end,
I'm glad that I do not know the day,
I'll reach a wall I cannot climb.
He'll gently pull me up and over,
Hallelujah! I will praise Him
As my soul shall rise sublime.

(Repeat Chorus 1)
And though the road ahead should turn beyond my view,
And though my eyes grow dim with age,
I'll strain to listen for my Savior.
I will follow where He leads me,
I will follow all the way.

(Chorus 2)
And though the road ahead should turn beyond your view,
And though your eyes grow dim with age,
If you will listen for your Savior.
He will guide you ever homeward,
He will guide you all the way.
(Listen for your Savior He will guide...)
Yes, He will guide you all the way!

Goldie2009-10-24I read the comment by miss Pearl, she said it speaks to her.Well it speaks a lot more to youths to remind them to remember the Creator in the days of their youth.I love the message and never get tired of listening to this song.Even though I'm young some day I'll get to that stage when I'll just be waiting to be "pulled up and over, saying hallelujah".
Pearl Hemmans2008-11-14This was my first time hearing this song and I enjoyed listening to it in its entirety. As a senior I felt as if it was speaking to me. Thanks for allowing me to enjoy this song.
