Tangled Up In The Blues

This is a song about Americans trying to work together despite our differences of opinion. In 2018 I wrote the lyrics and different music. Steve thought the music didn't match the theme and responded with music in a more appropriate blues style. And there it sat for over two years. Once the 2020 US election was over, Steve and I adjusted the lyrics a little and Steve made the recording. - Elton, November 10, 2020

Lyrics

(Verse 1)
Though I may be wrong
It's hard to admit
And just go along
And though you may be right
The gap is too wide
We might end up in a fight

(Chorus)
Though we're miles apart
In seeking the best direction
Let's stop and talk
There's not a moment to lose
We've got to find a way
To bridge this misunderstanding
Don't walk away
And leave me to choose
Cause I'm tangled up in the blues

(Verse 2)
Once we free ourselves
We can never go back
To that dark dusty cell
Cause once we free ourselves
From the grip of a lie
The truth will prevail

(Repeat Chorus)
Though we're miles apart
In seeking the best direction
Let's stop and talk
There's not a moment to lose
We've got to find a way
To bridge this misunderstanding
Don't walk away
And leave me to choose
Cause I'm tangled up in the blues
Yes I'm tangled up in the blues
Tangled up in the blues
