An Irish Blessing

Both my husband and I have some Irish roots. I've always been inspired by Irish music, so while working on the "Christ is Born" Christmas album, it seemed a great idea to incorporate a bit of heritage. My vision was to close the album with a simple prayer, so thus wrote a tune using the familiar traditional Irish Blessing lyrics as inspiration. It was meant to be a sweet and simple ending to the album, but turned out to be the number 1 song on it. The musical bridge of this song was brought to life by the musical talents of a variety of musicians we brought into the studio from all over New England, including Cinnamon Creeden on the penny whistle. I first heard her work while listening to Tim Janis' music (a wonderful musician from Maine) and was thrilled she joined us in the project. Because of the song's popularity we also created sheet music to go along, and to this day it is being performed all over the world. I occasionally receive letters from churches who have used the song in services. Recently from a pastor from Africa! It has been such a blessing to witness and I am humbly grateful. - Carolyn, May 28, 2024

Lyrics

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm around you
May your feet follow his path
May the Lord bless and keep you
May your life be as he planned
May God keep you may he hold you
In the palm of his hand
And give you peace
His peace

May the Lord bless and keep you
May your life be as he planned
May God keep you may he hold you
In the palm of his hand
And give you peace
His peace
